Meet Your Growers

The Anuhea Flowers team is made up of the two owner-operators and one additional full-time employee. Between the three of us, we do everything involved in working the farm and running the business. We personally care for the plants, harvest, grade, and prepare our protea for delivery to our customers. We work hard to ensure that only the finest quality flowers leave our farm for our retail and wholesale customers.

Emily Church
Meet Emily, one of the owners of Anuhea Flowers. She has worked with Judy and Bill Mertens, the previous owners of Anuhea Flowers, since 2015 when she moved to the Maui farm (her in-law's family property) from Denver, Colorado. Emily’s background is in education. During her holiday breaks, she began helping out seasonally at the farm with Bill and Judy, her hanai family (Hawaiian for adopted family). She was making wreaths and arrangements while she continued her career in Education. Under their guidance and teaching, she quickly grew into the business and loved the creative outlet it provided, working with her hands and the flowers in such a beautiful setting, sharing such beauty, comfort, and joy with others, and learning all the aspects of the business and farming. She took on more and more responsibility. As Bill and Judy got closer to retirement, the opportunity to purchase the business became a possibility in early 2018. Emily met Tasha, her business partner and now co-owner of Anuhea Flowers, working at the same school. Over a discussion in the cafeteria while monitoring students, they decided to take up the challenge of buying a business and the hard work of running a 15 acre farm. They both worked tirelessly and very closely with Bill and Judy at the farm and transitioned ownership in the sale of the business at the end of September 2018. For her, it’s an honor to carry on the legacy of Judy and Bill and to embark on a new adventure with her partner Tasha as they continue to build Anuhea Flowers, reinvest in the 'Aina through Hawaiian Agriculture, and create the vision of Anuhea Flowers today.

Tasha Wright
Meet Tasha Wright, one of the new owners of Anuhea Flowers. She is a Maui-grown, Upcountry mom who always dreamed of owning her own business. Throughout her career she has held a variety of positions ranging from tourism to education. But through it all, her passion for a creative outlet and love for the Aina (Hawaiian for “land”), brought her to flower farming. It wasn’t until 2018 that the dream of being a business owner came to fruition. She and her business partner, Emily, bought Anuhea Flowers and from there the flowers spring to life. Their joy of sharing what the slopes of Maui offer, shines through the one-of-a-kind arrangements they make.

The Anuhea Farm Crew
Jay-Ar: Is an invaluable asset to the crew and team here at Anuhea Flowers. He has worked at the farm since the previous owners. He not only harvests and prepares gift boxes for shipping but is our Agriculture Inspector for CA shipments. He goes through every piece of foliage and every flower that is packed into the gift boxes, taking great care to ensure they are shipped to standard. He also works tirelessly in the fields: chopping, planting, hauling, pruning, and mowing; we are beyond thankful to have him!
Seasonal Workers: We have some wonderful employees who come to work during holiday rushes. They build boxes, make labels, and pack our flower creations for shipping. We also have opportunities for part-time work when doing special field projects and planting periods. If you're ever interested, please reach out!
